Single integrated solution benefits Morris Owen
Established in Swindon in the late 1930s, Morris Owen is a firm of Chartered Accountants, Chartered Tax Advisers and Independent Financial Advisers. Their subsidiary company GHS UK Ltd was founded more recently, in May 2004, and immediately put Mamut to use as their all-inclusive administrative solution.
“Our main reason for choosing Mamut Enterprise was the combination of accounting and other functionality. We have staff that don’t have an accounting background but can still use the system. It is a huge advantage to see all customer information in the same system as the accountants are using. When customers call we are able to give the right answers straight away without having to use two different pieces of software,” says Ian Sumbler, FCAA at Morris Owen.
Like most businesses, GHS rely heavily on Microsoft products, so having a system that integrates with these products is essential for them.
“Another important reason was the integration between Mamut and applications from Microsoft. Microsoft’s solutions are a “must have” so it is important that other software support them; Mamut Enterprise does more than that. The integration is very good and we benefit a lot from it,” says Sumbler. He also points out that both GHS UK and Mamut are certified Microsoft partners.
Powerful customer relationship management
Sumbler says the CRM functionality in Mamut Enterprise covers all their requirements in one system. While many accountancy firms use separate systems for accounting and CRM, Morris Owen has discovered the advantages of keeping all information together. It has the double effect of impressing customers with personal understanding and also saving time on the doubly entry and maintenance involved in using two systems.
“We are getting the full overview of our existing and potential clients. When you call a customer you have all their information on the contact card, no matter which other part of the software the information was entered in. The information makes it easy to make courtesy calls to customers when you have reminders and tasks telling you to call them. Our customers enjoy being followed up and treated like VIP’s!
Saving accountants time
“From an accountants point of view it is a relief that when the invoicing is being done, the ledger is automatically updated, that means our technical department can do the invoicing and indirectly update the ledger automatically, without the need for accounting experience. That saves our accountants a lot of time,” says Sumbler.
Everything worked from the beginning
Sumbler recalls the implementation of Mamut Enterprise as a positive experience.
“Mamut Enterprise is an excellent, functionally rich business solution. You can buy it right off the shelf, install it on your computer network and start using it straight away. Everything worked from the beginning with minimal to no training required. The implementation went very smoothly and we started using the software from day one. Also, being familiar with Microsoft Windows helps you understand Mamut straight away and saves training costs.
Having used other business software Sumbler concludes, “Similar products in similar price range are no where near Mamut Enterprise.”
