Most clients choose MYOB over other programs
Iain McNair has been with the firm since 1972 and works with a diverse range of small business clients. "It is essential that companies find the right software program for their business needs and that they receive training in how to use it. We currently offer two accounting packages so that clients can make like-for-like comparisons. The majority of them choose an MYOB product."
"We first came across MYOB through a client of ours. They were setting up a business with help from various local government agencies and were put in touch with a software supplier to discuss their accountancy software requirements. They were offered a competitor's product that seemed OK, but felt that they would like to explore other options. After some research, they came to me with an MYOB package and asked me to look at it for sake of comparison. I thought it was perfect for their needs. It was intuitive and well designed and consequently, didn't require the level of accounting knowledge needed to use the competitor's software. Yet the end accounts they are able to produce for themselves are comparable. It's just so much simpler to input information."
"We like MYOB because it's much simpler for our clients to understand, making it much easier for us when we train them." Iain McNair
As a result, the practice made the decision to offer MYOB accounting software to its clients. In fact, Moore Scott & Co joined the MYOB Professional Partner Programme for Accountants to help the practice market the MYOB software. Iain McNair adds, "In the early days I had a client who loved the MYOB product but was uneasy about the fact that she did not personally know anyone else using it. She continued to feel uneasy until she went on holiday to Singapore, where she discovered that everyone uses MYOB and that it is the market leader in Australia with over 450,000 customers and 500 staff worldwide. Knowing that there is a big PLC behind MYOB is certainly a bonus for most of our clients."
Requires less accounting knowledge
"I still maintain that some training is essential to run an accounts package efficiently, but undoubtedly MYOB requires less technical accountancy knowledge than its competitors. From our point of view, we like it because it is much simpler for our clients to understand, making it much easier for us when training clients to use it." |
