I get a ‘Cannot find entry to show’ message. What does it mean?
You will get this message if there is an entry (a survey, for example) in the database that cannot be retrieved, for instance if the survey has been deleted (can happen if another user delete survey and you click on a survey link before page is refreshed), or been corrupted in such a way that it cannot be loaded, or an error occurred while retrieving the entry.
How can I change the text of the ‘This survey is closed for editing’ message displayed to respondents?
Some text is not configurable through the survey attributes screen, but is global system labels retrieved based on the respondent’s browser language. If the browser language is supported by Mamut Online Survey, the text is retrieved from the correct language file; otherwise the default language file is used.
I am trying to change the layout options, but it has no effect?
The layout attributes are overwritten by the css file you have selected. Try editing the selected css file and upload it again.
How do I move a survey into another folder?
There is no easy way to copy or move a survey into a specified folder. The copied survey will appear in the same folder as the original survey. The only way to do this is to export/import the survey into a new folder. An implementation of an easier way to do this is on our ‘to do’ list. Copying/moving surveys between folders may seem like a straightforward process, but is complicated by existing permissions to the original survey/folder, the new folder and the copied survey.
How is the multilingual feature working?
Basically, when logged into Mamut Online Survey, you create a survey and add your questions. Then you add the languages to translate. Mamut Online Survey will then handle sending of the translate-url to your translators. They will see one page with original texts, and input-fields for filling in their translated texts. Once completed, they click on save. The survey creator will be able to see what languages have been completed or needs update from the admin screens. The language of the survey can be controlled by the URL (parameter) or a dropdown list in the survey so the respondent can switch between languages. A report can be created including all respondents instead of one report for each language.
- see ‘translations’ in the Mamut Online Survey documentation in your program.
I click on a link, but nothing happens?
You are probably blocking pop-ups. Normally it would be the internet settings under privacy. There is an option ‘block pop-ups’, but you might have a program installed that are blocking pop-ups (Google bar or similar installations). You may get a small notice at the top of your browser window when blocking occurs.
Branching is not working. Why?
If you move questions after you create the branch conditions, you may end up with conditions that are not valid and you may get an unexpected result. If you for instance have a question (no 1) filtering out the next question (no 2) and then move the question (no one) so it becomes number three, you now have a condition on the second question that filters out a question that has already been shown. It can be hard to detect such a non valid condition as the filtered question is not shown when viewing the condition (only questions after the current are displayed).
The rule is to create the conditions last, after all the questions are made and the structure of the survey is determined.
Questions filtered out with branch conditions should be on survey pages following the questions containing branching conditions.
Is there a way to access the same survey from the same computer several times?
In the documentation in your program there is a section on how to control multiple submissions in a survey.
By default multiple submissions will not be allowed from the same computer, and this is controlled by cookies. To be able to use the same computer for several respondents the multiple submissions attribute should be "turned on".
How can a question from a survey be copied to the library?
There's a link in the "edit question" screen, saying "To lib". This link will add the current question to a question library. Just select which library you want to add it to. Only libraries that you can modify will be shown in the list.
Can participants re-enter a partially completed survey to complete it?
Yes, this is possible. The survey can be set up to allow “save and return” for the respondents.
Also, if respondent accessed the survey from an invitee link the same link will open the survey with the partially completed survey when the invitee re-enter.
I need to make some changes to the survey after it was published. The survey contains responses. How do I do this?
Mamut Online Survey does not allow changing the structure of the survey (moving/deleting questions, changing question types and so on) while the survey is running. But it allows editing the texts in the survey, without changing the structure. Use the "edit texts only" in the survey administration menu to do this.
Are reports available to respondents?
Yes, reports can be accessed by respondents by enabling this option in the report. In a report, click on "edit report info". Then at the bottom of this screen, select "report results are available to respondents". After saving this report, you will see the URL available to respondents in the details screen.
