Background to the business
Econix Limited manufactures and sells the worldwide patented Bio-bin® which is a new generation of clinical waste container designed to be cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the traditional plastic bins currently used in hospitals and laboratories to collect clinical waste. As well as being cheaper to buy, the paper Bio-bin® is also cheaper to incinerate than its plastic counterpart. The Bio-bin® is also much better for the environment and considerably reduces the amount of plastic being incinerated every year.

The reasons for changing software Nick Wood the Managing Director of Econix was previously using an accounting package and was looking for a web developer to create a website and web shop where customers could place orders for the Bio-bin® and also make payments online. Nick was then looking for the web shop to be integrated with his accounting software to cover order fulfilment, stock management and accounting.
The solution Rather than write a web shop, Hawsons suggested that Nick replace his accounts package with Mamut Enterprise, a single cost effective all-in-one business package which not only handles his stock and accounting but also all of his customer service and marketing.
