Version 12.5

Mamut Business Software version 12.5 is now launched together with Mamut Online Desktop 2.0. In version 12.5 you will find many exciting updates and improvements that we hope will further simplify your work day. You can read more about these updates here.

Before you begin updating, we ask that you carefully read through the information found on this page and within the updating guides.

VAT – rate change


The VAT rate within the United Kingdom is planned to revert back to 17.5% on 1st January 2010. Mamut will offer a simple tool to help assist in making this change a smooth transition within your Mamut system. To be able to use this tool, you are required to be on version 12.3 or 12.5 of Mamut Business Software. You can check what version you are using by selecting “Help/About” in your Mamut system. Should you update?


In addition to the new features, version 12.5 contains several statutory changes which will take effect in 2010. If your business is affected by these changes we recommend that you update to the latest version of Mamut Business Software as soon as possible.

We recommend that you update as soon as possible if:
    - You are not on version 12.3 and need to update the VAT rate to 17.5%
    - You trade services with other EU countries and are affected by the new rules for EU VAT
    - You are using Mamut Online Desktop
    - You have received a message stating that your current version of Mamut Business Software is over two years old
    - You are using version 11.2.5186/11.2.5186c/11.2.5186D
Notice: Mamut point of sales is not yet compatible with version 12.5 of Mamut Business Software.

    - Read the updating guide (updating from version 11 or from version 12)
    - If you have a multi-user solution you must start by installing and updating on the server
    - Click on “Download” above when you are ready to update
    - Start the Installation guide and follow the instructions


5 steps for a successful update

  Installation of the new database
Version 12 of Mamut Business Software uses Microsoft SQL Server 2005 as the database. The update is therefore more comprehensive than previous versions, as Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is installed with this installation. You should therefore read through the installation guide carefully before you get started. If you have a system administrator, “IT contact” or Mamut Reseller that previously installed your Mamut system, it may be a good idea to contact them to assist with this update.

  Additional products
If you use other products from Mamut such as Mamut POS or Mamut ServiceSuite, these products must also be updated to allow them to work with version 12 of Mamut Business Software. Read more about Mamut POS and Mamut ServiceSuite.

If your business is using Mamut Client Manager you must update each individual database group. How to update Mamut Client Manager.

 

Third party products and accountants
If you are using one of the third party products, such as EDI or freight systems , we ask you to contact the suppliers of these programs to ensure they will continue to work with version 12 of Mamut Business Software.

If an accountant takes care of your books, and they use Mamut, or exchange information with other Mamut systems, it is important that all installations are of the same version. Therefore, we recommend that you speak with your accountant or partner before you begin updating.

  Optimise your database
Before you begin updating, you should perform a complete backup of your business data. We recommend that you also optimise and clean up your system, as this will speed up the updating process. Remove old databases that you no longer require. If you are updating from version 11, you are able to run a Control of the data structure as well as Reindexing. You will find these tools under the menu File – Database utilities.

 

System requirements and limitations in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express
Check that you computer/server meets the system requirements for Mamut Business Software before you begin the update. Minimum requirements and recommended system requirements..

The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition which is included with Mamut has special requirements, including 4 GB size per company database in Mamut. Limitations in Microsoft SQL Server 2005.  If you have a large and complex database, we recommend that you select a more powerful version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005. These contain, in addition to the expanded database size, a range of new tools. Read more about Microsoft SQL Server.

     
     
Problems downloading?
If you experience problems when downloading, you can try the alternate download or order a CD by filling out the below form.

We recommend that you set aside time to perform the update. The update can in some instances, take a long time (several hours), depending on the size of your company database(s). Even if it appears that the installation wizard has stopped during the installation and updating, we ask that you do not cancel the installation/update. If you have a valid Mamut Service Agreement, you are able to order an updated version of Mamut Business Software on CD-ROM, simply by filling out the form below. Our experience suggests that the majority of users wish to download the latest version electronically. Therefore, we will not be sending out the latest version of Mamut Business Software to all customers.
