As you may be aware, the standard rate of VAT will be decreased from 17.5% to 15%, effective from the 1st of December, 2008. From the 1st of December, the new rate should be used on all orders and invoices. Full details about this change can be found on the HMRC website here.

Mamut is pleased to provide you with the Mamut Standard VAT rate update tool to help you change the VAT settings within your Mamut Business Software. It is important to note that in order to use this tool, you must be using version 11.2.5186 of Mamut Business Software. The VAT tool will only work on version 11.2.5186. You are able to check what version you have by selecting Help - About in your Mamut system.
If you are not using version 11.2.5186 please update your software before using the Standard VAT rate tool. Download version 11.2.5186
If you have Mamut 11.2.5186 installed please read on and follow the directions for updating your software for the changes to the standard VAT rate.
How to update your Standard VAT rates
STEP 1 - Download the User Guide for the tool
The user guide can be downloaded here
It is important that you read through this before using the tool for the first time.
STEP 2 - Download the Standard VAT rate tool
- Within the Mamut menu select File > Database Utilities > Download System update file
- Select Download files from the internet and click Next
-In the next window that opens select the VAT Update UK 2008 item by clicking on it and then press OK
- The download will begin, Note: for Vista users you may need to enter your username and password to allow the process to continue at several stages. Please enter your login details and allow the process to continue when this happens.
STEP 3 - Installation of Mamut Standard rate tool
1. In the welcome screen click Next to continue.
2. When asked for standard or custom location we recommend you select Standard location and click Next
NOTE: Vista users will not be able to select the Standard option but will need to use the custom option and then browse to Program Files - Mamut
3. Click Install to being the installation. This will only take a few seconds.
Note: for Vista users you may need to enter your username and password to allow the process to continue at several stages. Please enter your login details and allow the process to continue when this happens
4. When asked if you would like to run the software select Yes if you are ready to update now or No if you would like to run the update on or after the 1st December 2008.
NOTE: It is possible to run the tool anytime using the shortcut that is created on your desktop.
